Welcome to eDistr.com

eDistr.com is a marketplace for readers and writers to come together. Readers get access to free and inexpensive content browsable via cell phone, PDA and PC. Writers get a place to publish free or inexpensive articles, receive feedback from their readers and participate in forum discussions.

My name is John Lema. I built this site to give my friends and myself a place to post short articles we could then read using our connected PDAs (Palm Tungsten C for me) and cell phones (I have a Windows Mobile pda-phone). Since I am a programmer by trade it made sense for me to do the heavy lifting. The idea of charging came up when I got my first ISP bill :-). Since I know the family that runs Globe Syndicate (a newspaper syndicate) we added some of their columnists to the mix ... why not, we're charging now. See how quickly things can get out of hand?

eDistr serves primarily text content in formats appropriate for browsers on the PC, PDAs and cell phones. If your device has trouble with screen formatting, please use the www.eDistr.com/cp url for special small-screen formatting. Larger text items are also available for download to the PC. We host quality free and cost content from freelance and syndicated authors. Although the majority of our content consists of short (500 to 700 words) articles similar to newspaper columns, articles may be up to 5,000 words in length. Articles cover a wide range of topics including politics, relationships, aging parents, religion, poetry, fiction and opinions. To learn more about our syndicated columnists, browse the Globe Syndicate web site.

Although eDistr is intended primarily for mobile viewing, users may visit from their PC, PDA or cell phone, search for articles and read them in their browser. Public content may be accompanied by ads some day (consider yourself warned, non-members) unless storage and bandwidth suddenly become as free as our content. Visitors may become members at the Readers level through a free registration process to receive benefits listed on the membership page which may be accessed from the menu to your left. Readers may purchase credits which allow them to "purchase" articles from the Writers area. Typically, one credit makes one article available to the member. Credits are worth approximately $.20 (the value to eDistr and writers is less due to transaction fees charged by payment services).
